Im sure you all aware that the server is lagging and having trouble connecting.
Well I got 2 emails from our hosting provider on the cause and what they are doing about it.

Subject: Lightwave Networking, Ongoing Network targeted DOS attack.
There has been an ongoing targeted attack upon a certain IP of the network which is affecting all peers.
The targeted IP has been null routed on the router, and blackholed with one upstream provider.
The other provider is still taking the brunt of the attack and routes which utilize Level3 & Savvis are likely impacted. (Note, many inbound routes use the Level3 connection. Whereas almost all outbound routes do not).
Due to the size of the attack, the peering announcement to the Any2IX network was removed, as the brunt of the attack was utilizing that route and saturating the upstream provider's peering connection.
I am onsite at the DC continuing to monitor the situation and work with upstream providers to mitigate the problem.

And then a 2nd one...

Subject: Lightwave Networking, Continued/New DDOS attacks

Around 6:00PM PST, a new DDOS attack on a different unrelated IP address commenced.
At this point I don't believe the targets are chosen for any particular purpose other then to disrupt the entire network.
The IP addresses attacked have had nothing to do with each other.
I am continuing to work with upstream providers to mitigate the problem as best possible.

I did ask them who the target IP's are, and both times it was not our IP range.
This is a 3rd time in 1 month we have had issues with lightwave's network and I am frankly tired of it. Over the next few days I will be looking for a new provider and move us over to them. I will keep you all updated on news of these situations. Thank you for your patience.
